With so many modern and timeless styles, we get that choosing the right one can be a tricky process. As a team, we always look to Sienna when it comes to questions about fit, size, and style. As our resident bikini expert, CEO, and designer, she can usually recommend the best style to suit our needs. We decided gate-keeping that skill of hers was a bit selfish, so we’re introducing Sienna’s Favorites, where twice per month, Sienna will profile one of our styles and break down the inspiration, fit, sizing, and style of each design. You can thank us later.

Up first is our best-selling Malibu Surf Suit, everyone’s favorite long sleeve, high rise, cheeky surf suit with an adjustable tie back. We have brought this suit back with nearly every collection we have released because our customers can’t seem to get enough.

Q: How did you come up with the Malibu Surf Suit?

SMG: I wanted to create a one-piece that was comfortable, secure, and sexy – for surfers and non-surfers alike. I knew I wanted long-sleeves for those early summer/late spring surf sessions where the water is just a little bit too cold for a bikini, but you’ll be overheated in a wetsuit within 30 minutes. I also wanted something that was functional but still fun, with an open back that looks good on everyone and that won’t slip or slide as I paddle. I’m personally not a fan of full coverage surf bottoms because I feel like the more I move, the more it rides up and gets uncomfortable. We decided on a true thong design so that we could skip the wedgie and focus on the wave. The front features a low-ish cut and rouching to accentuate the waist, making this one of our most flattering suits.

Q: What does the Malibu Surf Suit fit like? How should people decide on their size?

SMG: The Malibu is true to size, and I typically wear a size medium. I have had taller friends size up, depending on how much or how little booty coverage they’re comfortable with. The bust of the suit is very stretchy, and if you’re worried about whether or not you’ll be spilling over the top, check out our size chart here for more info on what cup sizes pair best with each size. That said, with the adjustable neck tie, you can add or release as much support as you like, making this style a great one for people with chests of all sizes!

Q: Who would you recommend this style to? How would you accessorize it?

SMG: I would recommend this style to anyone who wants a sporty-look but doesn’t want to lose feminine flair. This suit cinches the waist and elongates the legs, all while letting you move freely. If you’re looking for a suit that will make you look long, accentuate your curves and combine sport with chic, it’s for you. I’ve been wearing mine underneath the Selena on my way to early morning surf, or with a pair of jean shorts sort of like a body suit!

Q: Anything else we should know?

SMG: CapCut and I recently partnered on a few campaigns because I’ve been using their tools for Sienna Swim. Since our newest campaign was all about the Malibu, we thought it would be fun to give our customers a little treat with 20% off all Malibu suits, now through Friday, October 27 (use code: Malibu20). For anyone who has been wanting to try one of our most popular suits, especially with it getting colder outside, now is the time!
